Kloptaň

Kloptaň is a mountain in the Kojšovská hoľa subunit. Its name allegedly comes from the word klopačka, a clapper that announced the beginning and end of a shift to miners.

The summit of Kloptaň, covering 27 ha, is a National Nature Reserve. The protected features are rare summit communities with the occurrence of rare plant species, such as the Siberian iris.

Former lookout tower on Kloptaň

A green hiking trail leads to Kloptaň from the village of Mníšek nad Hnilcom. In addition, it is situated on the longest ridge route in the Volovské vrchy Mountains, traversed by the red hiking trail, the Heroes of the Slovak National Uprising Route.

Hikers can use the shelter for overnight stays in case of bad weather. The tower located above the shelter served as a lookout tower until recently. However, due to its technical condition, the ladder has already been dismantled.
