Skalisko Peak is one of the most iconic summits in the Volovské Mountains. It belongs to the Zlatý stôl subunit. The massive ridge is covered with mountain meadows and dwarf pine. The crown of this peak is an approximately 10-meter-high limestone rock rising above the tree line.
Thanks to it, Skalisko offers a unique panoramic view. In good conditions, you can see the neighboring Stolica Mountains, Čergov, the High and Low Tatras, the Levoča Mountains, Spišská Magura, the Polish Beskid Sądecki mountain range, the southern part of the Slanské Mountains, the Slovak Karst, and the Hungarian Bükk and Mátra mountain ranges.
The peak also forms the boundary between Spiš and Gemer and is accessible from both sides. From the south, a yellow hiking trail from Betliar and a green hiking trail from the village of Čučma lead to the ridge. From the northern side, Skalisko is most easily accessible from the village of Henclová, from which a green hiking trail leads uphill. The red E8 hiking route passes along the ridge, known as the Heroes of the Slovak National Uprising Trail
About 15 minutes from the summit of Skalisko, on the green hiking trail toward the village of Čučma, you will find the tourist lodge beneath Volovec.
