The Terezian Mine Adit is located above the village of Smolník, below Malá Hekerová Hill. The reason for its construction is truly interesting. In 1768, the Úhorná reservoir was built here. The water diverted from it powered the mining machinery above Smolník. However, this technical solution brought one fundamental problem: a lack of water in the valley. The mining engineers decided to solve this problem in an original way, by constructing a passage canal intended to draw water from the neighbouring valley of Bystrý Potok.
Excavation began simultaneously from both sides of the hill. After 26 years of excavation, the miners met in 1794. At the point where they met, the adit is 6 metres high. The water flows through the adit naturally, as its entrance on the Smolník side is 15 metres lower than the entrance in the Bystrý Potok valley. Today, part of the water flows along the floor, while the remainder flows through a pipeline that serves as a water source for the village. The adit is home to rare species of bats and to the fire salamander.
